Through an act of serendipity, a poor man meets a rich man in a broken elevator, and during the time they are trapped in the elevator, the rich man takes the time to patiently impart to the poor man some of the wisdom and experience that he has accumulated over the years, which has allowed him to become the multi-millionaire that he is today.
The poor man is at first reluctant to accept the teachings of the rich man, but due to his own foolishness with money over the years, he gradually yields to the wise words of the rich man in the art of becoming financially wealthy and successful, in the hopes that one day he may also become a millionaire too.
The elevator breaks down with a rich man and poor man stuck inside, and so the conversation begins …
. . . . . . .
Rich: Hi there, my name is Mr. Rich. I’m a millionaire. Pleasure to meet you.
Poor: Hey buddy, I’m Mr. Poor. I’m not a millionaire. Far from it. Actually, I’m kind of broke. Damn, I guess we’re going be stuck here in this elevator for a long time.
Rich: What makes you say that? What makes you so sure?
Poor: Well, bad things like this always happen.
Rich: That’s so negative. No wonder you’re broke.
Poor: Now hang on just a second. That’s a bit presumptuous to say that.
Rich: Really? You just told me yourself that you’re broke. Most poor people are habitual negative thinkers. The rich think positively, and the poor think negatively. It’s just the way things are.
Poor: But you’re being negative about me right now.
Rich: Not quite. I’m just stating facts. I didn’t get to where I am today by not being able to differentiate between rich habits and poor habits. On the journey to millionaire status, you learn a lot about a lot of things.
Poor: Well, I still don’t like your condescending tone. And you seem a little arrogant, but I guess we do have to look at the straight facts. You’re rich, and I’m not. I may be poor, but I’m not stupid, and what I see in front of me today is an opportunity to learn a few things from a millionaire.
Rich: Well, I’m very happy to hear that.
Poor: So will you teach me how to get rich? I’m not sure how long this elevator’s going to be stuck like this, but will you teach me your secrets to wealth and success, and millionaire status? It has been a secret dream of mine since I was a teenager, you know, to become rich and successful, but I just didn’t seem to have the business acumen or whatever it is you need to make tons of money. There is an entrepreneur deep down inside me, but I’ve never had the opportunity to really bring that side of me out and make my life a success.
Rich: Everyone has opportunities to make their life better, and you’re no exception. I’ll be frank with you. I like your honesty and directness, and I appreciate your willingness to learn. That, at least, shows that you have potential.
Poor: Great! So what’s the first step? What’s the first lesson to becoming rich? I’m all ears.
Rich: The secret to great success and riches is imagination. Or more precisely, visualization. That is the first ingredient you will need.
Poor: Well, I have that! I used to day dream all the time when I was a kid. Hell, I still do!
Rich: Hold your horses. I’m not just talking about normal thinking or just plain day dreaming. I’m talking about intense visualization. You have to be able to visualize EXACTLY what it is that you want in your life, and no less.
Poor: So you mean I have to invest more energy and intensity into the thoughts, or as you call them, visualizations?
Rich: Precisely. That’s exactly what I mean. But it’s not just that. It doesn’t just end there. There is another very special ingredient that you have to inject into the mix, and that my friend, is emotion!
Poor: Emotion? In what sense? What’s emotion got to do with getting rich?
Rich: Yes, I understand your reaction. This is an important subject that most people don’t understand fully. It is very important to feel the emotions of wealth and success before you actually achieve them. This is done by allowing yourself to get excited about your goals and by practicing feeling the excitement, joy and fulfilment that you know you’ll feel when you have achieved them, but feel those strong positive feelings now, instead of later. By acting that you are already super-successful, you will pull your future goals towards you and into the present moment, which will have an almost magical effect allowing your goals and dreams to become manifest in your reality all that much sooner.
Many people have heard of this method, most likely from the law of attraction. They know it on an intellectual level, but they haven’t taken real steps to actually internalize the knowledge and integrate it into their life, and that’s why they continue to remain poor, year after year, even though they consume knowledge such as the law of attraction. If you want knowledge to work for you, you have to be it, you have to become that knowledge. Just knowing it is not enough. You have to be it!
Poor: Right. I think I’m beginning to see where you’re coming from. Emotion is one of the secret keys that most people miss. Correct?
Rich: Absolutely right! It is the one key element that is missed most often from the equation of becoming rich. Let me elaborate more on this using a simple analogy. To bake a cake, you need the main ingredients. If it is missing just one of the main ingredients, it is virtually impossible, not entirely impossible, to bake a successful cake. The same applies to making money and becoming rich. For the recipe to work most effectively, you need to add all the key ingredients, which gives you the best possible chance for success.
Poor: I think I see where you’re going with this.
Rich: Good. I’m pleased that you’re following along and absorbing this valuable information.
Poor: I have a question though. What if one of the key ingredients is missing? What happens then?
Rich: Success can still be achieved, but it will be on a much smaller scale than what could have been achieved if all the key ingredients had been included. When you get all the right ingredients together, and combine them, there is no limit to the amount of success you can achieve in your life. And I mean no limit. Even becoming a self-made billionaire is possible.
Poor: A billionaire huh? Now that is pushing the limits. I don’t think I’m ready for billionaire thinking just yet. Let’s stick with millionaire status as the goal. That, I believe, is possible for me to achieve. But I still don’t know how.
Rich: Don’t worry about the how for the moment. The how is not so important. What’s more important is the why, and also getting all the key ingredients working together. That’s where most poor or unsuccessful people fall down. They focus on the how, and because they can never decide on a good path to becoming a millionaire, they never really begin the journey to achieving great wealth. How you get rich is largely irrelevant. There are hundreds, even thousands of different routes available to everyone that can lead to riches.
It is said that there are many paths to the top of the mountain. This is so true when talking about achieving wealth and millionaire status. The goal is the top of the mountain. The goal is to become a millionaire. That is the main focus. What path you take to reach that goal is a personal choice that only you can make, and only you know what path is good for you, because only you know what makes you feel good. Choosing a path that makes you feel bad would be foolish. So do something that makes you feel good about yourself, something that inspires positivity and happiness in your life, something that generates good vibrations within you, and attracts positive emotions into your life. Only you can select the path, and if you find later on that you chose the wrong path, then you can just change routes, and follow a new path, a path that feels better for you.
Poor: So I just need to have a strong desire to become a millionaire, and it doesn’t really matter what path I take, but that choosing a path that I somewhat enjoy is better than choosing a path I don’t enjoy. And I have to throw intense visualization and imagination into the mix. Did I get the gist of it?
Rich: Yes, but don’t forget emotions. Strong emotional desire and intense visualization of your goals. The word intense is a powerful word, and that is why we use it in the context of getting very rich, because without intensity in what you do, there is no hope of ever achieving millionaire status. Visualization is quite a powerful word too. Visualizing is more than just daydreaming. When you visualize, there is great clarity in the images you see in your mind. When you combine these two words together to form intense visualization, then you have a very potent method of realizing your dreams in a much faster and more efficient way.
Poor: I see. The more energy you invest into the visualizations, the more effective they are, and the faster they will manifest as a reality. This all seems too simple to be enough to transform someone into a millionaire.
Rich: But that’s just it! It is very simple! Which is why so many people miss it! Most people think that to become a millionaire, you have to be super-intelligent, or have an MBA from Harvard, or you have to work a hundred hours per week for twenty years. People’s perceptions of what it takes to become a millionaire is skewed.
There are many other reasons why most people never become rich, and a huge reason is because the majority of people have subconscious negative beliefs about money. Another common problem is low self-worth. Many think they are just not worthy to attain millionaire status, for whatever reason. That is their loss. They choose to think in that way, and so in truth they don’t deserve to become millionaires. Only those who truly have a passionate desire to become millionaires ever make it to the top and achieve their goal of financial super-wealth. This is just the way things are, and it will always be this way.
The top three percent of society will always control ninety percent of a nation’s wealth. For those that understand this, and who are among the financial winners, this is a great thing. But for those who are on the other side of the table, who are struggling to make a living, or even earning an average salary, it is not so good, and because of their lack of understanding of how millionaires think, they themselves will never make it into the category of the super-rich.
Poor: Hearing it from the horse’s mouth so to speak, from a real-life millionaire, the information resonates with me on a whole different level. There’s reading about becoming rich from a book, and then there’s hearing it from someone like yourself. This is very motivational for me hearing you talking about becoming rich. It gets me all fired up when I think of the possibility of one day becoming a millionaire. I’ve had these feelings before in the past, but this time I feel like I can really do it! I can feel the passion for true wealth awakening inside me, and this time I know that it’s more than just a mere dream!
Rich: Right! I’m really pleased that I’m having the opportunity today to pass on my knowledge to someone who is serious about implementing it into their life. So many times I have tried to inspire the notion of wealth and super-success in various different people, but most of them only listened with one ear and did not recognize the true power of the words that I was speaking to them. That’s another example of people failing to realize an important opportunity when it appears. Luckily, you have the good sense to really absorb the words I’m telling you. Words can be meaningless, and they can also have great power to make huge changes in a person’s life. The important thing is being able to distinguish the difference between average information and powerful information, and when powerful information passes into your brain, you should make sure that it leaves a strong impression in your mind.
Poor: Well, I can say for sure that the information that I’m getting from you is making a very deep impression in my mind, and I’m positive that I’ll be able to draw on the power of your word’s weeks, months and even years into the future. Is there more that you can tell me about becoming a millionaire that you haven’t already told me? I mean, how about the subconscious mind? I’ve heard that the subconscious mind is powerful if harnessed properly. Can you give me your take on this subject?
Rich: The subconscious mind? Yes, this is an extremely important aspect of amassing great wealth, and I’m very happy that you have identified the most powerful tool in the wealth-creation toolbox. The subconscious mind is the gatekeeper to unlimited abundance in all aspects of life, financial abundance being just one of those aspects, and indeed, a most important area of life for many people.
The subconscious mind is just as powerful at keeping you dirt poor as it is in making you rich beyond your wildest dreams. It is so extremely potent that most people unconsciously fear the immense power it wields over their lives. Most people choose, for whatever reasons, to ignore this incredible phenomenon known as the subconscious mind, and they go about their lives in total ignorance of it.
It is quite shocking how very few people realize the true awesome potential of the subconscious mind to create any reality of their choosing. They could have anything in life they desire, but because they don’t take the time to fully understand the workings of the human mind, and the subconscious mind in particular, they live their whole lives suffering from a lack of this, and a lack of that, and all the while wondering why they were dealt such a bad hand in life. They don’t realize that they are one hundred percent fully responsible for their success or their failure in life, and so they accept a life of mediocrity, or worse.
Poor: Wow! I knew that the subconscious mind was powerful, but I guess I didn’t realize just how truly powerful it really was. After listening to your wisdom on this subject so far, it is clear that this is the area that I most need to focus on if I am ever going to amass great wealth, as you yourself have done. Please continue with your teachings on this subject.
Rich: Okay, so I think I have made it clear enough just how potent the subconscious mind is. To translate the true power of the subconscious mind into words is an impossible task, but the closest word that I can think of when it comes to the subconscious mind, is the word miraculous. The subconscious mind can produce in people’s lives what many people would call miracles. So, with that in mind, I will now continue to explain how to control this powerful beast, and how to best utilize it to your advantage with regards to achieving millionaire status.
While the subconscious mind can be considered a slave, whereby it is slave to your wishes and desires, the word slave has negative connotations, and shows a level of disrespect, and so we will avoid addressing the subconscious mind as a slave, even though it is fully programmed by the conscious mind.
A more appropriate analogy to use to explain the subconscious mind would be an operating system on a computer, and our conscious mind, or our thoughts, would be the computer software. So the operating system (the subconscious mind) must, without question, run any software programs (thoughts or desires) that we give it. Basically, the operating system must do the job that it was programmed to do, meaning that the subconscious mind must, without question, accept any thoughts or desires that take place in your conscious mind. Are you following along with this line of thought?
Poor: Yes. This is fascinating stuff. What you are saying is that the subconscious mind has to unequivocally accept anything and everything that the conscious mind delivers to it, and will run the programs given to it without question. Is that correct?
Rich: Absolutely! You are right on track. The subconscious mind is like the genie in Aladdin’s lamp, and will happily grant any wish that you desire, within reason of course. But if the wishes are to become manifested in the physical world, then there has to be a constant laser-like focus on the wish or the desire at all times, for however long it takes, until that desire has been achieved and has manifested itself in your physical reality.
Poor: I see. So for example I would have to hold the desire in my mind as often as possible throughout the day, in order for it to pass through into my subconscious mind and have the best possible chance of manifesting itself in my reality. Amazing!
Now are you sure that you have covered all the key areas in becoming rich? Because it sounds almost too simple. Surely there must be another key ingredient?
Rich: Yes my friend, there is one final key aspect that will solidify all your efforts and allow you to sculpt your life into a life of success and riches. This last key is hard work. It is so simple, yet, when it comes down to it, most people just do not have the discipline required to grind and hustle day in and day out. Most people are lazy and instead of actually doing the things they should be doing to reach their goals of financial success, they allow procrastination to poison their life. Procrastination is the true enemy of building wealth and riches, and before anyone can begin taking real steps towards becoming rich and successful, they must first learn to defeat this enemy that will try to sabotage their efforts at every turn.
To break free of the debilitating habit of procrastination, we need to build new habits of self-discipline and hard work in its place, so that after a while, these new success habits that bring discipline into your life, will starve and suffocate procrastination until it is completely destroyed. Once you have overcome the enemy of procrastination, and have developed strong habits of self-discipline in its place, then you will become an unstoppable force in this world, and nothing will stand in the way of you finally achieving the success and riches that you so desire in your life.
